Ataülf

Next to the Nautical Port and the Paseo de Colon, Ataülf is a very quiet street that is located within the tourist area of ​​Barcelona's old city center. And there you can find this 120 m² newly refurbished XIXth century apartment. The apartment consists of two different areas, one that faces the street Ataülf and one on the back side of the building. Originally, the center of the flat had been divided into small rooms, some of them without any ventilation or privacy and you needed to pass though each room in order to move about the apartment.

In order to improve this situation, the project opened up the central area of the flat, making it much more flexible for the customers' needs and activities. This simple change offers more circulation and provides for long views across the flat which enlarge its spaces.

The central space hosts the kitchen, the dining area and the living room with the main entrance. Despite being a single large space, it offers the opportunity to divide these three activities if wished. On this side of the apartment you can also find the main room with a dressing room and a full bathroom.

On the back side you can find another double bedroom with a full bathroom around two courtyards. In addition to the main strategy of opening up the space, we also worked with good quality materials with a variety of distinctive flooring patterns, colours, and geometric designs in each room.

The existing tiled floors were maintained, just like the original wooden doors and windows that were found to be in very good condition. This strategy helped us preserve the character of the apartment as much as the memory of the neighbourhood where it is located.

The apartment was delivered equipped with high-quality brand appliances (electrical stove and oven, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave), and has hot and cold air pump through ducts.
